Tristar, in recent times, haven't been the most prolific of manufacturers. However, the company are still there and have just sent us news of their imminent release in 1/35th scale.
The NEW Release is:

35048 - Panzer IV/70 (A) Sd.Kfz. 162/1

The NEW kit will come on 20 sprues, will include metal wire mesh for the Schürzen, include 2 sheets of photoetch and the decals are from Cartograf. There will be a bonus figure set (35005) with the first release.

35005 - Panzer Grenadiers Vol. 2

This is a 4-figure set of Tank Riders and will be included with the Panzer IV/70

The New Release is scheduled for release at the end of March 2011.

Our thanks to Michael of Tristar for the Update!

This is a great news! I just remember DML announcing this kit very recently.... what a coincidence... The inclusion of Wire mesh schurzen is a nice feature. Just let's wait and see the price.

That's some genuinely interesting news: I thought Tristar was long dead and buried (or at least is seemed that way). Nice to see a new kit coming from them. Will be interesting to see how this evolves.

So much for recent reports of their demise. I'll be getting this.

Yes...reports of their death was greatly exaggerated! Not really an astounding release after all this time, but at least it's not another Panther or Tiger! But there is a lot of US armor to choose from.

I like Tristar kits and am glad that they're still alive and hopefully well. Not sure if I want this one or not, but I would like to see the kit built up before I make my final decision.

Local news was that the entire company was sold to a new owner, the 70A project was actually carried over from the old administration to the new one, similar situation to that of the 222 recon car.

Good news for Tristar fans! I really like the quality of the Tristar kits.... they produce very nice Pz..IV and 38(t) variants. Most of the figure sets are of excellent quality too. The only drawback is the cost of some of these kits...but as the old saying goes...you get what you pay for. Glad to hear Tristar is still hanging around. I look forward to getting this kit. Jeff
