Masterbox Ltd. have just sent us a batch of images of their latest W.i.P. which will be a set of Soviet Cavalry in 1/35th scale.
The NEW Set (which is under development) is:

MB 3573 "Soviet Cavalry, 1939-1940, 1941-1942"

Once again, Masterbox are covering an area which for other manufacturers has been (conveniently?) forgotten. Not only were cavalry widely used throughout the Eastern Front (and more than just troopers of Florian Geyer) a wide variety of horse drawn transport was also used by both sides with mounted outriders.

The prognosis for this particular set is excellent. Not only out of the box, but the conversion possibilities should be immense - mounted Partisans anyone?

Our thanks to Masterbox Ltd.for the very welcome Update!

I've been on a Soviet (WWII) kick lately, so these will end up in my stash.

Beeeeeautiful!!!! I can't wait for this one. I'm more impressed by Masterbox with every news article and review I read. I believe that they are soon going to be the leader of the whole pack! Watch out DML....Masterbox is very close behind in production quality (but way ahead in originality). Jeff

The horse poses look pretty nice ... a nice bit of movement. Not counting the GenII horse set, most of the 1/35 horses released so far are quite poor .. being too stiff and static.

Hello, Hey Bob, I take the point on mister jivago ! I've made some conversions from previsous miniart soviet set, but I didn't found correct figure for depicting a wounded officer. I used a Gen II horse, and damn they are awfull, their skin being so crumpledlike a chow chow dog, and mouth like Fernandel smiling. The only thing I can say is that I bought the masterbox set of us cavalery with indian scout, and the horse were very small (maybe it's related to the fact indian horses were not that tall like european horses), but still it's unusable with any other figures from other manufacturer. This might resuscitate my project, despite the fact these horsemen look very alive ! Best, Julien
