introduction

Mohawk is a hairstyle in which both sides of the head are shaven, leaving a strip of noticeably longer hair in the center. During World War II, many American GIs, notably paratroopers from the 101st Airborne Division wore mohawks to intimidate their enemies. It was also occasionally worn by American troops during the Vietnam War.

One of the latest releases of BRAVO-6 B6-35093 Mohawk depicts a standing Vietnam War U.S. soldier with this hairstyle and carrying an M-14 rifle.
packing&casting

Figure comes well packed in standard cardboard box of the company labeled with a photo of the figure painted by Vladimir Demchenko, also the sculptor. Inside the box, parts are seperately inserted into plastic zip-lock bags and served with easy to remove casting blocks.

As always, figure is sculpted in crisp details and cast clean in medium grey resin . No air bubbles, excess resin or any casting mistakes on the review sample. A short cleanwork may be needed to sand the slightly visible seamlines on the legs.
parts

Mohawk comes in 4 parts ; Body with head, two seperate arms and rifle.

  • Facial details like eyes, mouth, teeth and ears and mohawk cut hair are well defined. Left side of the mouth is slightly hollowed to add a cigar as in boxart. Over his naked chest, he wears a M1952 Flak vest. This vest was developed during the Korean War and was used during Vietnam War. The vest contained semiflexible layers of ballistic nylon cloth and sponge rubber over the ribs and shoulders which served as a shock absorbing layer to reduce contusions and fractures from the impact of missiles. The vest is closed with a full length zipper and could be adjusted by laced closures at both sides. It had shoulder straps, two chest pockets and two rows of web hangers over pockets for grenades etc. Over his vest, he has an OD Sweat towel on his neck. Lower part is standard tropical jungle Trousers with with two rear and two cargo pockets on sides.Trotters are inserted into canvas-leather combined Vibram boots. He carries two M14 ammo pouchs on both sides attached to his M1956 utility belt. Folds and wrinkles on vest and trousers, other details of the uniform and gear are all well represented.

  • Naked arms come as seperate parts and show nice muscular details. Right arm is posed to carry his rifle on his right shoulder. A wristwatch is sculpted on the left arm.

  • He carries a 7.62 mm M14 rifle. Details of the rifle are well defined and right hand with wristband is cast on the rifle.
    conclusion

Another unique figure sculpted and cast in nice details that can be displated alone or can be a part of a bigger Vietnam War scene.
  • SUMMARY
Highs: Nice sculpt and cast.Less parts for easy assembly...and Mohawk haircut.
Lows: No lows on this one.

I love this guy! He looks like the 25th ID Mech soldier from the end of Platoon (the one who flips the AK bayonet while talking to Sgt. O'Neill after the final battle). I may have to get myself one...
