Kriegsberichter (2)
Kriegsberichter (2) - German War Correspondant

by: Engin Kayral [ GRAYWOLF ]

introduction

During World War II, German war reporters served in the field to photograph the war for propaganda purposes and for history. At the beginning, they generally served with several different platoons and in January 1940, an SS -Kriegsberichter-Kompanie was established. Its platoons were attached to the four main Waffen-SS combat formations that fought in the Western Campaign. By August 1941, many additional units were fighting as part of the Waffen-SS. As a result, SS-Kriegsberichter-Kompanie was expanded to Abteilung / Battalion strength. Waffen-SS expansion continued to grow throughout the war, and in December 1943, the reporters unit again expanded, this time to regimental size.

After the first figure of the series on kneeling pose, Vladi’s sculpted the second one - Kriegsberichter (2) standing with the same camera Arriflex 35.

review

Inside standard BRAVO-6 cardboard box, figure parts are inserted into two small zip-lock bags. One for the body and one for the other parts.

Sculpting is nice in clean and crisp details. Casting is flawless as in all figures of the company. Just a fast cleanwork will be required to get rid of seamlines on legs and arms.

Figure is sculpted by Vladimir Demchenko in 1/35 scale and cast in grey resin. It comes in 7 pieces.

  • Sculpted on a standing pose, he wears standard German uniform of M36 Field tunic, M36 Field trousers, ankle high leather Boots and canvas Gaiters with leather straps. Over his tunic, he has a reversible SS Camo Smock painted in Oak leaf autumn pattern on the boxart. Besides nicely done wrinkles and cloth folds, all details of the uniform like collar of tunic with unit and rank collar tabs, buttonized pocket flap covers of smock, waist draw string, foliage strips on upper back and front of smock, front laces of the smock and side straps of gaiters are very well defined. He has a black leather Belt with metal buckle on his waist. Body is flattened on the back for the fit of battery pack of camera.

  • Facial features look realistic and he wears a SS M43 Wool Field Cap-Bergmütze. Two buttons on the front , detachable ear flaps, sewn on SS insignia and eagle emblem are nicely sculpted.

  • Arms with smock are posed to hold the camera. Cloth folds, baggy look of sleeves, elastic cuff on wrist, foliage strips on shoulder are well defined.

  • He carries a P38 Walther Hardshell Leather Holster on the left side.

  • His camera is a Arriflex 35 - reflex 35mm production motion picture camera. It was originally designed as a hand-held newsreel camera and many WW II documentaries include much German material shot with it. American soldiers brought back captured cameras introducing Arriflex to United States. The camera was knocked off and nearly identical Cineflex PH-330 was made for US Military. Hands are cast on the camera.

  • Battery pack of the camera. It will be attached to the back side of the figure.
    conclusion

Another unique figure showing Vladi’s sculpting quality and BRAVO-6 high quality casting. Nice pose, useful for World War II German dioramas and vignettes. Remarkable details on Arriflex camera.

this is a fantastic review. the gesture of including reference links right "at the source" is a great help to someone (myself!) who might otherwise be more than a little challenge finding resources for accurate research.

Another useful figure, especially when combined with the other one posing at the edge of a dio.
