Book Review

Modern US Tanks & AFV's

by: Todd Miller [ ROTORHEAD67 ]

This review is for one of Motor books Illustrated offerings from their Enthusiast Color Series. Those familiar with this company will, find the soft cover and its pages to be of high quality. The text is thorough and well formatted. All photographs are color, and represent different types of vehicles in past and present inventory of US forces. The collection ranges from the middle 80’s to activities in the Gulf War of 90-91 and O.I.F. operations. The book is broken into four chapters. They are: Tanks, Armored Infantry Vehicles, Wheeled Fighting Vehicles, and Armored Fire Support. There are a varied selection of appropriate armored vehicles covered and the quality of the photos are all clear and detailed. Types of vehicles, which deserve extra note, are the M117 Guardian, and the Stryker family of AWV’s. The pictures of the Stryker, may go unnoticed to the uninformed person, as any old APC, and they are not grouped all together.

Vehicles that have not had much press coverage are here too, M992, M1064A3, LAV-M, Wolverine, Paladin and Bradley Linebacker. All of which have entry photos between these pages. Model armor fanatics that would like to build any of these vehicles will find these photos helpful.
