AAVP-7a1 Storage set
Big Stowage set for AAVP-7a1

Introduction
First up this kit has been produced for the Hobby Boss series of kits. However it will fit and work perfectly on some of the others from different manufacturers. It is billed as a big stowage set and looking at the size of the model it is intended for that is no surprise. What is surprising is that it all comes in quite a compact cardboard box.
The box is the standard fare you come to expect these days, nicely stout so as to protect the contents with a large colour picture on the front depicting the kit contents fitted to the actual kit. There are also a of couple of smaller picutred showing the kit contents as well as the other side of the model.
The kit contents are cast in a light green resin and show no signs of any air bubbles or casting problems. To make life a little easier for the modeler Real Model has produced some of the parts joined together in a long link. Some of the parts are cast as separate items. This does mean to some extent that your finished model will look a little like your neighbor's. It would be a real pain to glue all the parts separately to the model so I can under stand the reasoning behind this design.
Actual contents
So what do you actually get for your money? Well you do get quite a few pieces, 47 resin pieces in total (including the two large baggage pieces.) In addition, you receive a set of modern photo etch razor wire and a printed set of water bottle boxes and MRE's. Quite a lot in such a small package.
The full contents are as follows:
2 x large storage pieces ( both contain 7 pieces of storage joined together)
4 x MOLLE back packs sets (all with slightly different load outs)
2 x packs with dust covers over them
4 x large sleeping bags
5 x small sleeping bags
2 x large rolls
2 x small rolls
12 x water / fuel jerry cans
2 x stacked water cooler / storage containers
6 x small ammo containers
5 x large 50cal ammo containers
1 x generic load ( tarps, oil drum etc) moulded as one piece
1 x photo etch razor wire set
1 x printed sheet of water boxes, MRE's
Conclusion
Checking this set against some of the pictures I have from OIF shows it to be a quite accurate representation of the load outs on the AAVP-7a1's used during that conflict. I feel the set does represent good value for the contents and by using the MOLLE back packs is more accurate when compared against other similar sets, although the design of the set will allow you to mix and match to a degree with other similar set should you so wish.
The only real down side to the set (nothing is ever quite perfect) are the large casting plugs on the back of the parts but this is off set by the quality and the sharpness of the details in each part. Reasonable care and a good fret saw will certainly be required to remove the casting plugs from the set but with a good paint job it will certainly add that little something to the model. Highly recommended.
SUMMARY
Highs: A good selection of gear that is as up to date as it could be, that is a fair representation of the real thing. Superbly cast with a high level of detail for a good price.
Lows: quite large casting blocks that will need some care and attention to remove,
Verdict: Highly recommended storage set for your AAVP-7a1 model, nicely cast with some excellent details and a large amount of parts included.

Keith Forsyth (docdios) comes from the small town of Stafford in the United Kingdom. He began his interest in modeling at an early age with armor being the main focus. It was not until finding himself between jobs in 1995 that he really got hooked. It was during a shopping visit to another town when...

Great review, Keith! Not cheap, but it goes look like you do get a lot. The pictures you included with the review are way cool as well! Would love to see a sculpt of the old lady, the goats, and reclining Marine! Also, are those additional armor plates added to the AAVPs in the picture at the bottom? I've never seen that mod before and are there any other pictures of this mod floating around? Thanks again, Keith! Regards and Aloha, Johnny B.
