Tanks get driven in all weather, and for a large part of that time, the driver and co-driver are exposed to the elements. An interesting item has just been released by Resicast: a set of Sherman Bad Weather Hoods.
Packaged in the normal Resicast style for small items, the set contains 2x bad weather visors; 2x bad weather hoods; 3x sets of two wipers; 4x clear vision screens for the visors; and 3x sets of wing nuts.
Cast in a light grey resin, the parts are expertly done and have excellent detail. The provision of the clear vision screens, wing nuts and wipers all add to the detail of the set. The hoods are also expertly finished.
This is not a must-have set, but a specialised one that may be vehicle-specific or used more widely to add an alternative finish to your Sherman tank. The parts are quite delicate, but the provision of additional wipers and wing nuts is a plus. The clear vision screens are also very nicely done.
So if you have a wintry or wet scene in mind, or just want to add something slightly different to your finished build, then this set may be of interest to you. These will also be very handy for those who wish to model a specific vehicle shown with this attire.
If you love detail and like the unusual then here’s something else to add to your inventory.
Update November 2010
There has been a modification in the way the bad weather driver hoods have been cast and presented. They now include two folded hoods, that means 2 x 3 different hoods.
