introduction

Combat Vehicle 90 (CV90) is a Swedish infantry vehicle designed by Hägglunds where the first generation was fitted with a Bofors turret. It is currently produced by BAE Systems Hägglunds.

During the Cold War, Hägglunds started the production of a new family of combat vehicles called Combat Vehicle 90. In 1984, the Swedish army desired a unique vehicle with high mobility, air defence and anti-tank capability, high survivability and protection. In total five prototypes were developed; deliveries took place in 1988.

The CV9040B is an updated CV90 with a fully stabilized gun, although elevation suffers because of this. This upgrade set from Voyager Model is designed for the Academy kit #13217.

contents

The PE set comes packaged in Voyager's slide-open box (12 cm x 11.2 cm).
On the front there is a picture of the assembled model with Voyager's PE set used. The back side features a graphic of what you get in the set, and contacts for customer support.

When you slide open the box, the first item you see is the instruction sheet.
The PE frets and other pieces are tucked in under the instructions further protected in plastic bags and taped to the backer to prevent damage.
You get 3 PE sheets, one larger one and two smaller ones, (9.5cm x 9.5 cm,7.2cm x 7.2cm), and two styrene rods ( 0.5 and 1.0 mm diameters, length is approx. 5 cm). The instructions span 3 pages contained on 2 sheets printed in black & white, and are a bit bigger than A4 size.

the set

Instructions:
As usual, the instructions are clear, and show everything exactly as it has to be done. The legend shows all the tools you need, and all methods you will have to do, to finish off the set properly.
Mostly some beginner/intermediate skills (remove, radial bending, make from plastic rod, bend, etc.) The tools required (as per Voyager) are: super glue, needle nose pliers, tweezers, craft knife and pin vise.
So, in the end instructions are superb!

Sheet A:
Contains 46 different parts (150 PE parts in total). On this sheet there are most of the bigger parts (the grills are not on this sheet). Sideskirts are included, which are thinner than the original plastic ones, that makes them more accurate and lifelike.
The mudguards are here and again they are thinner than the original, and can be wrinkled for more accuracy. The checker/diamond plate is so superb, I have never seen it this good in any scale, amazing! And a lot of different small details for general use on the model, they are thin, and the detail is amazingly sharp!

Sheet B:
Contains 45 different parts ( 141 PE parts in total)and consists of mostly smaller bits such as different handles, nuts, bolts, holders, locks etc. They all look very fine.
The two larger parts are for the commanders hatch for more detail than the kit part.

Sheet C:
Contains 28 different parts (approx. 100 parts in total...too many small handles to count!).
So, this sheet contains all the grills, which look nice, and are a good replacement for kit parts. Also on this sheet are a lot of different small handles and some kind of locks that secure the sideskirts to the hull itself, nice detail.

Conclusion

Well, what's left to say...I think everything is clear from the upper text.
This is a wonderful set that improves the Academy CV9040B kit greatly.
From my experiences with Voyager so far I must say all of their sets that I've had are wonderful, fairly priced and you very often get some extra stuff such as plastic/metal rods, metal parts, resin.
Highly recommended.

After looking through the list of Gofor Jobs you may have been better off just buying plastic and starting from scratch. Very nice job on the finish.

George, You ought to be able to market this as your own kit after all the mods!
