Tank Warfare in Korea

by: Martin Noorloos [ MARTINNNN ]

I bought this book after watching the war movie Taegukgi (a must see). This movie made me interested in the Korean War. I decided to buy this Concord book, and I must say I was really surprised about how interesting the Korean war actually is.

The book has 72 pages, of which 8 are filled with a nice and detailled story about the Korean war and 8 with colour plates. The rest is filled with black/white pictures.

When you open the book, the first thing you get to see is a map of Korea. The map also shows the important areas of the war where the larger battles took place. This is really handy, as you can look where something took place in the war.

Now the story about the war begins. It's an very interesting story, and I read it with joy! Also important is that it's easy to understand, also for people of who English is not the primary language (like me)

After the story, the book continiues with the pictures. The pictures can give you nice ideas for dioramas and are also very usefull as reference for vehicles. Most of the pictures show these tanks:

- M4A3E8 sherman
- M26 Pershing
- M46 Patton
- M24 "Chaffee"
- T-34/85

Next to these tanks, there are also pictures that show SU76M's, Centurions, LVT Amtracks, Halftracks (like the M16) and even a Cromwell.

In the middle of the book, there are also 8 pages with colour plates. These show M4A3E8's, M26's, M46's, a T-34/85, a JS-2, a SU76M, a M36 and a Centurion. Some of these colour plates show very interesting camouflage schemes, like tiger stripes etc.

Well, that's about what I wanted to tell about this book. If you want to learn more about the Korean war or if you're looking for tank reference / diorama ideas, you can't go really wrong with this book. I recommend it!
