One point of interest about the CAR-15 carbine used in the film, I believe the two weapons used by Sgt Elias and Barnes were Israeli versions of that weapon. I may have even owed one of the actual guns (in a deactivated state) I brought it from a dealer many years ago who said he had got it from a person who supplied weapons to the film industry and that it was used in a Vietnam film but he had no proof of this. I didn't really believe him at the time but later after viewing Platoon again I saw that the flash suppressor was unusual and that it matched my gun, so who knows it may have been the same one? When the government here in the UK started getting funny about anyone having anything weapon like in their possession I sold it on to another dealer who told me it was an Israeli version of the M16 with the collapsible stock. I guess it would have been easier to get hold of these that older CAR-15's for the film.
I won't swear on my mother life this is true but as far as I know it correct.

Thanks for the clarification David. I never would have guessed it was easier to use Israeli weapons for the movie rather than getting US ones that were actually used in Nam... but then again, who would even notice such a thing other than a few modeling geeks, eh?

I'm sure it wouldn't be too much hassle for the Purists to change the weapon. Dragon's vietnam weapons set is on release again and there are Aftermarket Companies like TANK that produce appropriate American small arms.

These figures look awesome. I've loved "Platoon" since I was a kid. Where can I buy these figures?

Excellent figures, all. However, that is "King", not "Junior". Junior was the guy who got gutted during the big battle and was in Bunny's hole. King was the guy who took Chris under his wing and took him to the pothead side.
