Fantastic review Al,in depth as per usual... I reckon one could read your reviews solely and find out plenty about uniform history etc. Good stuff

This is really excellent news. I can't wait to pick this up...along with the DAK tank crew. Very imaginative. Great review....
And now for something completely different....MiniArt is coming out with an Italian Tank Crew...where oh were are the US tank crew sets???? The only real injection molded US tank crew kit is the ancient DML offering (not counting the equally ancient Tamiya tank crews).

Come on manufacturers...where are the US crews?

A strange comment to make on this review but I really like the detail they have put into the camel and its rider, which should really add to the interest in this product due to the possibilities.

I really like this set, might have to invest in one, although I have never painted a camel before. Anybody have any colour mixes for one ?, Any medium will do.

The "Indian" soldier looks to be a Sikh to me...not to be too PC but calling him an Indian is roughly equivalent to caling the rest of the figures "Europeans". India is as populous and diverse ethnically as western Europe.

Otherwise great review; I look forward to getting a set of these and arguing with people about the color of the camel

Hi Danny,

Sorry our perspectives must be different. Your observation is correct he is I think meant to be a Sikh which is a particular religious group for some of the Indian people but he is an Indian Army Soldier in the first instance. The set is called Commonwealth AFV crew which means with the exception of Monty they could come from any Commonwealth nation.

In reality he could have come form any part of the then British Empire as the Indian population worked across the globe. So he could have been a Sikh who was born in Fiji, travelled to Egypt and joined the army, but as an Indian by birth would most likely join the Indian Army - hence Indian soldier.

All the Souuthern Irishmen who joined the British Army were know as British Soldiers, not Irish Soldiers, all the Welshmen who joined were not Welsh soldiers but British Soldiers etc. The Empire coverd 2/3 of the globe at that point in time so soldiers were more likely to be linked to perceived country of origin and not religious groups, which is very PC.
