With the LAV-3 from Trumpeter any modeler will have to do some research on which one they wish to build, as this kit with some work will look the part.
REALMODELS will be coming out with an update set to bring it up to correct standards , and check out the LAV-3 In Afghanistan book from them as well.
Anyone with questions on the LAV-3 feel free to PM.

The UNMEE markings are incorrect for an up-armoured LAV-III. Though a white painted LAV-III for Task Force Sudan or TF Congo circa 2013 might be accurate.

Just out of curiosity, why does it seem that inaccuracies and/or soft details seem prevalent in these kits?

sounds like a nice kit but how does it stack to the kiwi version? accuarcy wise im not at all up on modern stuff but might be a nice addition for my NZ stuff.
was the canadian one much diff to ours or was it the same vehicle with maybe diff armament.
guess i better get in touch with the nzarmy and find out what markings i need to paint on.

Thanks in very good review.
Now I prepared Upgrade set with PE parts(Included Blast shield and rear Blast penels) , resin Wheels set and update parts and two half figures.
I prepare also LORIT set for Trump LAV III.

The great idea of detailling set should be to build a new upper hull in resin .
From drawings published:
The Trumpeter's stryker/LAV has nearly accurate under hull part (the kit is not enought long but is nearly accurate in width) but the roof of the upper hull is too wide.
None of AFV's or Trumpeter's are really accurate sadly.
AFV 's is superior but too narrow...

The main reason why some kits have inaccuracies, is mainly because of a failure in research. Research is a key factor when planning anything. And trust me it pays off. Same as when you build a model, you do some searching on the subject, and when you are happy with what you have , you begin to build. Just like other model companies they have Tech advisors who can fill in the gap when it comes to a certain vehicle.
Research pays off.

Juan & Anthony: Understood, what I'm really asking is why don't they pay attention to all of the inaccuracies and problem areas that are pointed out by the scale modeling community? You would think that if they were really serious about being in the kit manufacturing business that they would, especially if they were going to continue to release several different variants within a particular vehicle family.
It's just a bit painful to see nice kits such as the new age LAV's and Strykers being haunted by minor faults that don't seemed to be well addressed by the manufacturer or AM.

Ok Research is one big part of accuracy but you have also to take into account the complexity of the mold and the number of parts because this will directly impact your final prize.
So you have to come with a certain compromise accuracy vs prize.

BTW, I am really happy that Milo will tackle the problem of releasing up grade kits for the LAV-III
