No dioramas please. Bases with structures, multiple vehicles, or figures other than the vehicle crew are considered dioramas.

why we never follow this rule, Keith???

Hi Roman

this has been my first year running the contest, with the existing rules from last year, so I have allowed some models in that would maybe not have been allowed, as I wanted more modellers to get involved on top of having to learn the whole setting up, voting etc.

I am currently working on the new rules for next year which I feel will better suit the entries we have received over the last 12 months and I am more than willing to listen to other views of what they would like to see in the rules (with them having to be fair to all)

HTH

My vote is in. Great entries this month.

Keith, if you don't mind me chipping in my 2 cents. I don't enter these contests, but I do vote in every one on the KitMaker network. I tend to put groundwork and little vignette scenes together with my armor models. I like them better that way, and so does my biggest audience, my wife . But, when I vote in the contest, I look at the armor piece itself, and not the base, or scene, or what have you. There used to be rules against submitting pieces that were vignettes or dioramas, but...I think the voting population of Armorama is sophisticated enough to select the best armor entry, no matter the manner presented. I'd like to see that dio rule relaxed, I must admit.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,
Mike

What do you think of showing the results of all entries? It is interesting to see how many votes get each model.

How about allowing more than one photo of each model? Being able to see each one in 2-4 different photos might make for more informed voting.

As for allowing finished bases and/or dioramas, I guess it's down to what this contest is about - the vehicles or the overall finished product. Like Mike, I do my best to focus on the vehicle itself, but there's no doubt that an elaborate base affects my perception of the model.

You could possibly have a separate entry just for dioramas once or twice a year seeing that they are a big part of our community. Just an idea to throw around, twice a year would be more than enough time considering how long it takes to complete a dio compared to stand alone models.

Voted and duty done.

Mike, I think groundwork and diorama elements shouldn't be allowed for the very reason you stated: they look better that way. A vehicle with groundwork and other elements will always look more complete and any weathering effects will look better and more natural. As a result, such contestants will have an advantage over others. You might be focusing on the model only, but what you perceive will be different if the same model was on a groundwork or it was standing on a bare background.
