I'm just kicking around some ideas.

Does it have to be a real vehicle? Can it be a developmental vehicle like a Sgt York or even scratchbuild something completely fictitious?

To quote the rules on the campaign page:
"... as long as it was actually built or a photo exists supporting it and I guess we can do the prototypes as well as on paper."

So, Sgt.York is fine since it was actually built (but did not reach production). Something that was reached the design phase but never built? Sure. Completely fictitious? No.

Yes, it must be an actual vehicle or prototype!

Even if it was a mere wooden turret, but no concept projects, nothing that was just put down on paper like the many Coleian Flakpanthers but as something that was built.

The Sgt. York is such a vehicle, even though it never was accepted or reached production. And no, I am not changing my mind anymore or on my choice ... just no more Campaigns for me.

Is this any clearer? Just no concept vehicles or projects. I'll give some grace on guns mounted on vehicles since it was such an unproven entity so if it's the correct time period, go for it. I mean, no 88's mounted on Kubels but within reason.

One thing i would love to build for this campaign would be the Sonderfahrgestell auf Flak 41 .. I know there is none of these as a 35th scale plastic kit but hell i wish there was .
I buy ten of them

Thanks. I was looking for a clarification on what was allowed. That "paper-theoretical" area can get kind of vague. Perhaps my "totally fictitious" reference was a but heavy on the hyperbole.

I'm not sure what I would do or if I want to do anything. The start date is a ways away still so I have time. Besides, I'd like to do something out of the norm. At this point nothing really jumps up and grabs my attention.

I'm sure you'll come up with something why with all the surface-to-air missile examples there are and even the unusual "Skink" ... there are plenty to choose from.

Actually a Skink is on my shortlist. I have a old copy of FSM where they build one. I'll have to dig it out and see if it's worth trying. I think that builder used a resin turret conversion.

There's also the Yugoslavian M5 Stuarts mounting German Flakverling. However, I'm currently building two Stuarts so I'm not so sure I'll be hyped up to build another one...even next year.

Then there are the Avenger Humvees. Didn't they deploy some of these after 9/11 attacks to help guard government buildings?

Anyway, I've got a good bit of time before I have to decide on anything.

I have some Voyager LAV-25 resin wheels I need to find a kit to put them on and ran across an Air-Defense vehicle that I didn't know existed.

So there are plenty of ideas there to be found.

Jeff ,,, question ,, is the ADV25 your looking at the Italeri one by chance ?? ..if so the turret needs a alot of work as its like a desert in the detail department ,,the gun looks good but that still could do with some work .. if this aint the vehicle your looking at then ignore this post
The resin wheels would look very cool in that machine .

Actually what I stumbled on was the Trumpeter USMC LAV-25 Piranha Air Defense vehicle I never knew existed. I may go for it instead of the York just so I could use these wheels I bought for cheap!

There are SOOO many LAV's out there to choose from, not that it's a favorite vehicle of mine but so many varieties that will fit into so many applications.

I take it that handheld SAMs such as Stingers, Starstreaks, 25mm Bushmasters, and SA-7s would qualify? Italeri makes an Anti-Aircraft set...

"Anything mobile or stationary that deals with shooting down Aircraft."

So, I guess handheld devices will fit in but never thought anyone would do anything that small of a project but hey, go for it.

Sean .. Ok for the linebacker there is these changes to the base Bradley turret .. modifications have been made to the existing Bradley turret using the Stinger fire control, Slew-to-Cue systems and the Sentinel Radar target acquisition subsystems, which give Linebacker the ability to engage targets and fire the Stinger missile while on the move and under armor protection.

The Linebacker missile launcher mounts to the same mount as the TOW system , here's some links that should help ya out .

that one will help ya heaps .. good ol Armorama

Hi,

I just noticed this campaign and felt it would be an interesting one to take part in, so many different vehicles to choose from. I have enlisted and when it kicks off I will be doing this as one of my builds....

...just goes to show how varied this campaign can be when you start looking through kit lists .

All the best,

Paul

Exactly Paul! Now you know my mission. I try to think of projects that have a HUGE variety and or choice in what to build. Like you said, all you need to do is start researching and the possibilities are there.

I like what you picked out and have never seen that weapons system before, let alone the kit so it should be a fun and educational build so welcome!

Hi Phill,

Thanks for the detail shots of the gun system, they will be most useful when I come to make it. This thing is so tiny I nearly lost it when I opened the box and eventually found it in the instruction sheet. I have thought of mounting it on a Gaz truck, plenty of time to decide.

All the best,

Paul

You could mount it on a truck.

I have seen them mainly on Gaz MM and AAA and the odd Zil 5 to.

Well I know my project for this one, a ZSU 23-4V1, which I may do up as a cuban one! (if I can find enough reference!)
