I'm staying firm on the "oob" rules. No scratch builds or products from other manufacturers. If you want to hand paint the markings and insignia, that is fine.

So, Matt... Does this mean that I can rob another D kit for gas-cans but cannot use the same multi-piece cans from the GreatWall set? I'm OK with that, actually, but trying to get clear on this, as neither would "count" under other OOTB rules! And can I or not use some stretched sprue from the original kit box to make my antenna aerial in place of the somewhat too-thick kit aerial?

I'll guess that even if I can source Dragon gas cans from another D kit, I'll not be able to source the needed "iron-strap rack" nor the usual leather or thin metal strapping tie-downs from a D donor kit... (which I would make out of sheet styrene)...

As the rules state:

Quoted Text

This campaign is limited to ground vehicles manufactured by Dragon or one of its affiliates. There will be no scratch building or after market parts allowed.

So, parts from other Dragon/CH etc. are allowed. You would not be able to use parts from a Griffon am parts set. No stretching sprue, as that would count against "scratch building". This rule also applies to those of you who wish to modify the kit to replicate zimmerit.

OK! Answers my bleats pretty completely. Maybe plan A is a no-flyer. Guess I'll have to go back and ponder the stash some more and see what will surface for this one.

I will save my Wittmann 007 Tiger for something else. Do have a nice US Army ww2 M2 half track that I will build for this campaign instead of the Tiger.

Nice Tony. I have that kit in the stash too - I thought it was the only kit I had that didn't need extra work. Good choice ;-)

Me too Andy
Just something I could build OOB and have a decent model when finished.

assumption - orange box kits with included figures - figures are OK (not that mine are integral to the tank - have the Beob with the tankers "playing cards" so gonna be hard to include them in the build

Then, leave them out. By no means did I intend to infer that you must use all of the parts in the box. This is entirely at your discretion.

i was checking i "could" use them -assumed I could as they were part of the box - not that I had to use every part (cos we all know CH kits have enough for 3 different variants so it would be a very odd looking vehicle!!!)

All the extra gun barrles, like on their ISU 3 n' 1 kit, are spares to be fitted by the crew.

We're on our way to "Chimera-Panzer", folks!

Now there's a campaign idea... Use ALL the parts provided in a Dragon box! The "Complete OOTB no parts left behind Campaign"!

Things are bound to get strange indeed when you have an extra turret-shell, multiple gun-barrels "to choose from", extra fenders, multiple commander's cupolas, multiple sets of road-wheels, multiple sets of tracks, extra wheels, and way extra tools and bits n bobs to stick on! All of which, BTW, are to be found in one or another Dragon kit!

At least having a few extra tools stashed "here and there" would look OK.

Sounds like an interesting idea, I swear I have enough parts from the Panzer 4 series of tanks to nearly be able to build a complete vehicle from my spares box. There's another campaign idea "spares box panzer" where you must build something from all the parts you have spare.

A campaign built on building something from your spares box?

Yikes! That'll NEVER fly! What good would my SPARES box be if I emptied it out by actually USING some (or most, or gawd forbid, ALL) of the junk in it to actually build something? "Spares" are things you keep around in case you ever need them - sometime in some distant future!

On the more-serious note of actually selecting a Dragon kit for THIS OOTB campaign...

I think I'll do up the Cyber Hobby whitebox Pz. III ausf M early production kit 6605. I THINK that there are enough parts in this one box to pretty fully meet the needs of a Pz. III M "mit rahmen fur schutzhulle", so I intend to keep it to this one box.

That's Rahmen, not to be confused with RAMEN, for all the noodle fans out there! In the real world of noodles, RAMEN takes up Rahmen in the Abdomen!

Cheers!

You're in your own world there aren't you Bob.

I'm surprised no one is wading in with a SdKfz 7 - that's a top banana of kit that doesn't need any aftermarket whatsoever (although I might have put a little on mine)

Andy: I'm sorry, but I can't allow it. If it was less than 10% of the build, I would probably give you the go ahead.

Lol.

This is getting silly now.

Guess I'll enter it in the unfinished business campaign.

It's your campaign Matt, so I'm happy to go with your rules. But Jeez that's harsh!
