A quick update.

Painted the base coat on the interior components. I know I missed a couple of places. I was pretty certain that I'd overlook a few parts. For the interior green (sea foam), I used Tamiya Sky cut with just a bit of white.

Some of the interior panels added. The floor was painted darkish gray.

That's where I am right now. It's slow (careful) going because of the interior and the need to find references for it.

I'll join with the TVA BT-5 mod. 33 (Zvezda rebox with MR Modelbau resin turret and metal barrel) as soon as my Eduard PE set arrives. I'm also looking for replacement tracks, what would you guys advise?

The plan is to give it Republican colours from the Spanish Civil War.

Looks nice, Alexander! Did you weight the tires yourself or are the weigthed from the Trumpeter?

If you did, did you cut the tires or heat them?

I done simulation of weighted tires. Cut of the tire and inserted slightly wider styrene plate so the tire can get that characteristic shape. Trumpeter molded tires pretty soft which is great but problem is that one side of tire is thicker than the other and it fits asymmetrically on wheel so I ended with that 0.5 mm gap between tire rim and wheel.

A long overdue update. This kit has been troubled with some fit problems.

More work on the interior. Began adding the decals. It would have been nice if HB had included Spanish language markings for the Argentinian vehicle. Of note, the instructions note to add decals 26 to the rear interiors next to the exit door. These are for the South Korean version. Also, the labels for the interior are all in English. The kit comes with the radio rack but no radio detail. So the rack just appears empty. I borrowed a radio from an Academy Humvee, performed some surgery, and worked with that. You won't be able to see much of the radio.

Engine compartment walls added. This where I first really started seeing the results of some of the fit issues with the interior components. It got me a little worried about the upper hull fit on the lower hull. The side walls next to the driver's station really did not fit well and there's some overhang there.

Interior of the upper hull. Decals and such.

Top rear hatches. They went together great. I did glue the center hatch in place.

Upper hull top. Grills and some of the fittings. The hatch vision ports are clear and required some trimming to fit, then some more alterations to allow the top to sit on the lower hull.

I test fitted the upper hull and it was pretty bad. I went ahead and decided to spray a base coat of green. That way I could get them together and do whatever filling I needed. I also left off a lot of the railings, handles, and tools. I actually messed up and forgot that I had not assembled the rear ramp door. With the paint already in the airbrush, I masked off the rear and went ahead.

Tracks on.

The gap. his shot is actually after some of the trim work was performed.

After a bit more trimming, I got the gap down to a workable size. I should be able to fill the gap. This is where leaving off the railings worked out. They would have gotten in the way of the clamps and tape.

And that's where she stands. I should be able to fill that gap. I'll probably shoot a second coat of green over that and then start on the rest of the camo scheme. The fit issues have really been a wet blanket to what began as a nice build.

Hey

I'd like to join this campaign with the Italeri M47. I'll build it as the Croatian tank "Azdaja", dragon in English, of the 1991-1995 war in Croatia. Here is the picture:

I just need to get some AM tracks - perhaps the ones by Bronco...

I hope to start start this project sometime in June.

Cheers

Matthew

Hey everybody! Hope you all are well. I am going to jump in the fray with a Trumpeter 1/35th scale T-64 from the Ukraine War.

The vehicle I intend to model is this -64. This photo is from the MIG Productions iBook about vehicles in the conflict. I highly recommend it, BTW.

Best wishes,

Ian

Thanks Ian.

I'm actually done with it. I just need to go through the progress pictures and do a final posting here. It's actually sitting on a shelf next to my entry for the 20 Dollar Campaign...which I also need to do a final posting on.

Alex----Sounds good. Looking forward to the photos.

Jesper---Thanks. I thought this would be a good pick. I love the T-64 and this one has a great scheme. Also, it will be a great subject for weathering and wear and tear. Judging by the photos from the front those tanks have been put through the ringer.

Best wishes,

Ian

Thanks, Ian. It is a brutal chunk of steel with a big gun. No frills

BTW: do we have a ribbon yet for this campaign? I do not see one on the campaign page.

Update on the Argentine LVTP-7.

Fixing the prominent seams.

While the seam filler dried, I turned to assemble the turret. Assembly was pretty straight-forward wth a few minor fit issues. I did pre-paint to make it easier. When it's assembled I figured it would be a bit tricky to reach everywhere.

In all honesty I had forgotten the rear ramp. Assembly was simple. The oval walk-through door is molded desperately and can be position open if you wanted. The kit provides a length of string for the lift cable. I plan to use a thinner length of stretched sprue.

Assembly basically done and ready for a final coat of base green paint. Tracks and hatches covered with plastic cling wrap.

Paint dry. Now I have a bit of a choice to make. I had gone in to this build assuming the Argentine markings were for an overall green vehicle like you saw in the Falklands. The actual markings are for a 3-color camo scheme. I did some checking and the decals provided are not complete to make it a Falklands vehicle. So we'll go with a post Falklands vehicle...that should still meet the campaign's criteria.

Camo scheme.

Dry-brushes and washed.

And with that I think I'm done. This was a great little kit with a load of detail for the dollar. At some point, I plan on giving it a proper display base and display it with all of its hatches open. I'll go ahead and upload a copy of that last picture in the gallery.

Alex, that looks really good. I like the camo scheme as well. Your build really shows the massive size of those LVTP/AAV's. Well done.

Ian

Hi Guys,

Firstly massive apologies to all involved in this campagin, I haven't been able too look in or give you all the time & leadership that a good & successful campaign deserve!!

I am afraid that it won't get any better time wise for me so if anyone at all in taking this over & giving you all the best end to this campagin that can be given I would very very much appreciate it!!

Once again my apologies to all, it has rammed home to me that I am just to time poor to be involved in let alone try & run a campagin.

Please contact me if you are willing to take this on board.

Cheers Mike

So is this campaign still alive or dead? Is there a campaign leader?

Jesper, there doesn't appear to be much going on. We are like the Maytag repairman.

Best wishes,

Yeah - and the uncertain campaign leader role is probably not helping participation.

Sorry to hear that Mike. You set us up with a great campaign so don't worry over it.

We're in the home stretch now. The majority of the work is in finishing up those projects before the end of August. If needed, John can pass out ribbons.

Those that are finished don't forget to upload your finished pictures.
