Pretty mean-looking beast! Nice, grubby effects. I'm not real familiar with this KV, so I have 2 questions(not critiques),, 1) Are the tracks really that slack?,, and 2) what are those "wrinkles" on the surface on the rear of the turret??

Thanks guys! yes, the plastic barrel does have rifling, and the tracks on most KV hulled vehicles were quite slack although this does seem a bit extreme. I did use the recommended number of links per side. They were a royal PITA, the pins keep breaking. As far as the wrinkles go, as far as I know they are just casting flaws, you can see them clearly in walkaround photos of the actual tank that Bronco used as a reference.

Cheers,

Super job on the weathering and finish, Colin! Looks like a good kit to add to the stash.

You will often come across KV tank images with very slack tracks but they should of course not be like that when correctly maintained.

I have a 1/30th scale version of this tank from a Soviet model company made in the 1980's. The detail is horrible. More work was put into the design of the batteries and gearbox to make it run than anything else. I have had it since that time when brought out of Russia by my friend who was posted there by the US Govt. I am building it as a memorial build. There are no after market parts for my kit!!. I am not making up for any flaws in the kit. Just a basic built and a decent paint job.It is a joy to see your version and it looks great! Well done sir.

Nice work Colin, but the tracks look way too loose, any attempted turn would throw a track. I used the same bronco tracks on a kit bashed KV-85 I did and thought they were excellent, just trial fit as to the number of links.
From most KV pic's your drive sprockets look a bit low or maybe the swing arms are a bit high (collapsed suspension), perhaps that is why the tracks are loose

Thanks for the comments all, Eoin you may be right, the suspension is supposed to be workable, I may just glue it in a not so collapsed position.
