Is anyone here playing world of tanks on the PS4 now? I started again after a long break from playing on the 360.
I might sign up to build the Panzer Jager 1. I love that little thing in the game.I might have to break down and order that kit for this build.

My entry for the GB

It's a Revell 1/35 M7 HMC "Priest". Plan to build it like my "Scumbag" arty from WoT

Hi Again!
Well- busy as usual. I have completed my first entry in this campaign (in between playing stupidly addictive Armored Warfare).

One of my favorite vehicles in-game is the French made Panhard VBL. It is an amphibious fast recon vehicle with an insane Rheinmetall 20mm canon- great for punching through the armor of any APC or circle-of-deathing your next MBT victim. In the game you can unlock an anti-tank missile system, but this is generally eschewed for the faster loading/more DPM causing cannon.

The recent release from Tiger model was my starting point. This kit goes together well and apart from some minor flash/suspension issues, I would build another. Unfortunately, the kit comes as a generic VBL w/no 20mm cannon. The only other kit I can find that had the 20mm remote turret was AFV Club’s Wiesel 1A1/A3 Mk 20. The turret itself was stamped Revell and went together fairly well.

As I wasn’t sure about the quality of the barrel included, I ordered a 20mm Rheinmetall RH-202 Barrel from RB Models. It turns out the AFV club barrel was fine and in fact more accurate for the one depicted in-game. Nevertheless, I used the brass barrel for longevity/durability and because it looks great!

I am also dipping my toes into the water of LED’s for my models. If done properly, I think they add a pleasing element and will try to include them on my future builds. I used fiber-optics for the rear taillights here and SMD’s for the headlights. This model was a great learning experience and although not perfect, I am hooked!

The camouflage/colors are (loosely) based on in game schemes. I am still a rookie with camo and had a good time (again) trying to figure out how to do it and correct mistakes. I made the hood stencil/graphics with a vinyl cutter. If you have the time/money and are willing to put up with the learning curve, you cannot beat spray on graphics. The only time when they do not beat decals is for very fine detail.

The weathering on the model is primarily airbrushed dust with some pigments and dirt/dust splash effects. I stayed away from mud effects as I was trying to depict a speedy vehicle and driving through a mud bog contradicts this.

The base is built from wood. The terrain is foam/wire/grout/small stones/sand. I based the frame on the idea of an open shadow box- perfect for hiding edges and protecting the model/base as well as storing the wiring for the LED’s and hiding the French cleat for wall hanging. The terrain is another rookie attempt and is another area I will continue to try and improve on. The frame was lightly scuffed for a more weathered appearance.

Images to follow…

Here is the basis for my build- a quick video of in-game screen saver. I attempted the general theme of the camo without being pedantic. FYI- the in game camo has recently been upgraded yet again more options. This video was taken a few weeks ago.

Rear right. Taillights are visible, but dust coated! Propeller can be seen here- remember that this vehicle is amphibious.

My home made battalion logo. "8thCH" in game. Logo represents both US and Canadian players on our team. Maple leaf was going to be red, but this was difficult with the size of the vinyl cut paint mask (circle is 11mm across).

@ Rob
That was a quick build. I loved the weathering.

And this is where I stand in my build ...

I have finished the gun and the sub-assemblies of the fighting cabin. Only the various equipment have to be painted. As I will be on my annual vacation from the 6th, in all likelihood I will be finishing this is early April.

Thanks for looking

Hi All:
I have completed my second entry in the “Video Game Armor Build”.
One of my favorite MBT’s in Armored Warfare is the British Chieftain. There are two versions of this in game- the Mk.5 and Mk.6. I have modeled (roughly!) the camouflage paint pattern of the Mk. 6, but not the net.
As a basis for this build, I have used the excellent Takom Mk.5. It is very close to the game tank with a few exceptions. I tried to make the build as close to the game tank without going over the top. The in game tank has no dust shroud on the gun barrel (I noticed this too late ). I had to make a resin cast of the two stowage boxes which hang above the taillights and add the 2 extra cast pieces on the turret stowage cages. The storage baskets have Tamiya odds and ends and a few scratch build pieces to resemble the game tank “stuff”.

I have also added a battalion crest of my design (as seen on the VBL build) with an “8” (representing the 8thCH battalion). This is a half American Star (as on the WW2 US aircraft) and a half Maple Leaf. This helps represent the primary breakdown of our Battalion member’s home nations…

I used SMD LED’s for the main headlights and the cupola spotlight. The rear taillights are lit with one red LED connected with fiber optic cable.

I am a newb with bases and have attempted to represent one of the spawn points on the map “Ghost Field”. The spawn point has a rusted sign which is fairly prominent. I printed my own Cyrillic lettering and glued it to plasticard then coated it and added rust effects. Armored Warfare has some great weather effects and this map is usually rainy- I sprayed a little gloss paint over the base and top of the model to hopefully reflect a slight sheen. I was afraid of overdoing it, so the effect is fairly subtle. I took some of the photos in the bright sun to up the contrast- think of it as a break in the clouds!

I scratch built the oil drum out of some aluminum tape- this turned out very well and I will be doing more of this!

The photos have been retouched with some artistic license- I make ‘em how I like them.
Enjoy! Hopefully, one more build to come…

Ops.

Is there time for late submissions? I've been out of country for a few weeks.
