Hi Carlos
Yes the Trumpy Abrams would qualify, never thought the Dragon Abrams would be beaten but Mengs M1A1 looks like it might steal the crown as best abrams!
As Dogs go though i would list Abram kits as..
Italeri/esci/trump/Academy :-Dogs
Updated tamiya :-ok
Dragon :-Good

Thanks Stephen. So can I get in on the campaign, and are there rules posted?

Nevermind, I found the campaign page. Yup, sign me up for 1 Trumpeter M1A1 from the 5 in 1 kit.

The only thing that is throwing me is "Using a new technique...". Does trying to make it not suck qualify as a technique?

Hi Joe maybe the "not suck" technique will catch on
but i was aiming at people who wanted to try out things on there model they had never used like etch sets or washes and filters etc as its a dog kit its not too bad if it doesn't work out.
I am going to try the silly putty masking tech see how much i suck at that!

I think I will try to use my airbrush on this one. I have a Paasche single action that I just got the smallest needle assembly for. Never really learned how to use one before.

Word of advice on the silly putty technique-don't let it stay on too long-it will spread a little bit. It tends to leave a little bit of a raised edge.

That is what I was thinking also. I used it one time on a 1/72 Bradley and it came out great, but I usually freehand my airbrushing.

So April 1st? Check. All I've done is open the box at this point.

Hello,

Been a while since I built a sizable kit, so I'm planning to do this oldie:

OOB as usual. New to me that I'd like to try -- use oils exclusively to weather / finish.

Cheers,

Tat

Dustin, here's a couple to whet that appetite:

I gather that these CH white-boxed kits cost a fortune these days. I believe the second one, #6403 is the latest incarnation (vintage 2008), and the reviews I've seen were positive.

Cheers,

Tat

Hi Tat
The Imperial series Panther F would qualify for the DOG build and oil's for weathering sounds good too, i pretty much use oils solely for weathering best advise i can give is to add a little oil on tip of brush to a pallet full of spirit then mix produces a nice wash/filter.

Howdy Y'all
I just signed up for the campaign. This is the model I'll be building.

It's one of the earlier Tamiya 1/48 armor kits with a metal chassis. I think the later HobbyBoss kits are more detailed and better.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

LOL! I'm glad it is a long campaign. Between a client build and moving in May/June, I'll need the time. I'm only moving a whopping 4 miles, but still, it is just one more thing to deal with.

Since I've never tried modulation, and I'm dubious as to its benefits, I'll try that as a *new* technique on this project.

This campaign seems taylor made for me. I have been a kit collector and long ago builder and have many old dogs that have been waiting for there time in the sun.

I just started the Tamiya Panther A. I have a new Badger airbrush and hope to get started with ABing with this kit.

Another old dog I have been eying is the Tamiya Panzer II Ausf F.

Recently aquired is the Spojna Polish 7TP kit which is the only kit I know of this very interesting tank. It looks simple, but we shall see!

A dog if ever there was one...
Skif's HORRIBLE T55..

Lord have mercy on my soul...

I guess I am going to try a couple of new things, first to try to finish a kit within the campaign time limit ( Gettr Done/Hangar Queen notwithstanding) and I guess I will try some serious hairspray chipping here. I have had good success with salt chipping, but this will be the maiden voyage for hairspray.

Carlos-Got a few of the trumpy abrams in the stash, what with the new realese abrams coming i might have to get some built.
Tom-those tamiya jeeps are ancient cant wait to see how it comes out!
Mike.D Think skif missed an opportunity to do a great build with this T55 kit pity they messed up on it so much and got some parts so right..
Monte- Never new tamiya did this kit will have to keep look out.
