The only similar mount I can find is from a chopper - German gunner firing from the rear of a CH-53

Not to be rude, but sometimes reading the previous posts is a big help.
Then you would have seen where it was stated it was NOT FROM WWII.

I'm inclined to think it is something used for gunnery training. It reminds me of a piece of gear we used to use to simulate ground threats so we could evaluate how aircrews reacted. It had a seat and a gunsight for manual tracking, but it also had a great big radar dish on the front so clearly this is not the same thing. Still...
