On the startday I'll be busy introducing 12+ teenage refugee kids to the hobby!
I got some funds and a lot of help from local modellers to get a project going to give these kids something to do, a hobby instead of staring at a screen or the walls.
I got planes, cars, a motorcycle and even 1 panther....

Do you have a campaign gallery set up yet? I went to the enlist page and didn't see one.
I'm in with this

I like the suggestion for the ribbon as well. I will be a bit late getting started as I still have a bit to do on the Trois Ponts thingie.

This is going to be my effort...

Not doing the /6 version though, but one of the /3 types. The kit has dimensional issues which I'll try to address with sawing, sanding, plastic card and copious amounts of putty. And swearing.

Cheers

Thanks Steve,

I still might go with the /6... the extended aerial mast looks tempting.

So, I'd like to do the 250/9. I tried a new thing and gave all of the pieces a base coat before taking them off the sprues.

Does this count as not stared, since I haven't actually "built" anything yet?

Really happy with my decision to spray most of the parts first. It's especially helpful for the interior that can be hard to hit once the model is partially or fully built.

I have run into some issues though:

Also, will this move from the Diorama Forum to the Campaign forum? Is there a diorama aspect to the 250/251 build that I'm missing? No objections if there is! Just want to make sure I'm on the same page as everyone else.

Steve, I have no idea why it's gone to dioramas but they're not compulsory. It's just an option. Just the vehicle is fine by me. I work the same as you and paint everything before I start building as I find it a lot easier that way. I have no idea how people manage to paint the interior after it's all together. I've got to admit I enjoy doing the interior of open topped vehicles as I can make them look lived in and put all sorts of bits in there from my stash of weapons and kit.

Slight change of plan I was going to do a 251/9 first as I've got a pile of 250's and 251's waiting to be built but found a DML 250/5 in a Tamiya Stug IV box ???. I must have bought it without a box off ebay and shoved it in an empty box for tidiness. I don't even remember buying it to be honest but I'm going to build that one first so I can keep track of what I've got and from what I remember the 250's a nice little kit. I've only ever built one DML 250 and that was the straightforward Neu 1 version. I've made a start but not enough yet to warrant a piccie. Hopefully by the weekend I'll have made a bit of progress.

Joe, I like the ribbon. I'll see if I can lift it off here to use for the campaign. Thanks for designing it.

My previous reply vanished???
Anyway, funny that the both of you mention this 250-version and build it. I saw panzerconor building one just now and so am I. Actually been at it since 2013 and still not done...

I build my projects in modules. This way I have everything in place and still can paint it all. Looks a bit like this;

If you'd like to leran more about my build; http://armorama.com/forums/207287#1739328

This is NOT my campaign entry.

As a new person to the armor world (having worked mostly in automobiles), can you please explain the different kinds of builds, such as group builds, campaigns, etc?

I might be interested in participating if I knew what I was participating in!

Thanks in advance!

Hello there,

Well, small progress is still progress so here goes...

The Dragon 251 has a number of dimensional issues. Using Panzert Tracts 15-3 and the more accurate AFV Club offering for reference, I chopped things up a bit. Figured I'd get the basic shape right first before attempting any detailed stuff.
Some areas seem OK, others don't. The hull width is too narrow, the white spacer giving some idea of how much.
Quick blast of primer to highlight the many flaws, seams etc that need filling, sanding or whatever.

Early days....

Cheers
