Zsolt, that's a great looking engine bay. Is that part of the kit or aftermarket? What kit is that?

It is the Kübelwagen Engine Set from Tamiya, sold separately but fits 100% the engine bay and it looks cool with some added wiring

...deleted for clarity...

As for the frames: those are picture frames from Reality In Scale, with the backs sanded down to open them up and with some tenters added for a more painting-like effect. I hope to be able to show the twist soon

That's just cruel. Keeping us curious like that. Glued to the computer waiting for the secret to be revealed

Hello all,
@mike: your cleanly built Jeep deserves a big congratulations!

Well, as far as I see, a Kübelwagen Club slowly forms here so I decided to present a short status report on my Kübel. It is waiting for paint - I had no time for that recently but I hope the next two weeks I find the right moment for some spraying

The engine bay finished and before masking it looked like this:

And for the first time I used Tamiya paint (and not the light grey primer) as a priming. It covers perfectly. I plan to paint with AmmoMIG late war german colors...

Cheers,
Zsolt

Ben, that Kubel looks cool and pushes me from a maybe to a definite on building the standard version some time soon. Questions; what manufacturer, what scale, what are those things that look like windows but seem to be different sizes?

The base kit is just the retooled Tamiya 1/35th scale one, with a few bits and pieces from the spares box added and some details done in evergreen and two-part epoxy putty.

I am also curious about the "twist" and what those frames might be.

Been a while since I was active on the boards and since I did much intensive modeling, so I figured this would be a nice campaign to start me off.

I cannibalized some regular wheels from another kit to build it into a regular Kübel, as I have a bit of a twist planned for this one.

The above was originally posted 2017-08-07, page 6 in this thread.
I am also curious about the "twist" and what those frames might be. My initial thought was some kind of frames to hold radio equipment ...

Nice to see all the progress happening. It inspired me to get back to my little Kübel. Ready for paint at this stage.

Very nice work going on around here!

I'm still working on my jeep too. The basic building is done, stowage sorted out and everything is primed. I'll post some pictures later

Very nice so far Johar. Can't say I recognise the brand you hint at though.

Some progress. Based on reference photos, the rear seat is similar to the front seats, whereas the instructions just have you take a slice out of the part that is sat on, so I cut to match references, using cardboard from a wine box to fill in. I'll take my chances on everything fitting properly later. Everybody from Down Under recognize the logo?

And finally, painted, and in place.

Aweful Mike. Hate it. Sorry you just have to start all over again.... and hurry

Seriously, it is a nice layout. Love the guy with the radio - "Well, were kinda near this big green and brown blob, just a few inches up from the river, three fingers away from a bridge......."

Hi guys, I hope you've been enjoying the holidays!🎄

Thought I'd share a little progress on a sub-vignette I've been working on. For now, you'll need to imagine a map unfolded over the GPW's hood.

Uh-oh, I've just given myself two more figures to paint! ... Did somebody say "plenty of time?" 🤭 Lol!

Happy Modeling!🍺

Mike, I like how your JEEP turned out. I finished my build way back then went off and did other stuff. But after looking at the great work here plus too much time on my hands, jut thought MAYBE!

I wonder if I have time to build another JEEP, …

Hey Bob, you’ve got plenty of time. … Two Jeeps on the bench are worth three in the stash.

I wonder if I have time to build another JEEP, but what I see from the posts I don't think that I could come up o the level of craftsmanship. Everyone really has cranked out some great looking stuff.

I haven't forgotten about this one. I'm working on the Trumpy UAZ-469 and hope to have it finished in time.

Hey Mike, my previous post re your build didn't save. Looking great - don't forget the paint in the rear light lenses though....

Thanks Peter! It's amazing how the "little stuff to do list" continues to grow at this stage. I did get those lenses painted though.🎨

I used this as a reference.

Cheers!🍺

Not sure if cutting the pieces from the sprues and organizing them disqualifies me, but I'd like to join with this. No piece cleaning nor assembly yet.

The campaign leader has not posted for several months, so I'll put my 2 bits in and say I have no issues in you joining in. What says the rest of us....
