Okay, I'm calling this one done. I have to say I was not having as good a time on Zvezda's version of a 251 as I did on either Dragon's or AFV's (Tamiya is Tamiya), and the indy links were a PITA. I have another Zvezda Ausf B in the stash but I will likely build all my other 251's before I touch that one.

Zon and Jerry, all coming together nicely now guys. You too Lapman.

Looks great Shell. Nice variation in the colours of the crates to the vehicle.

Angel, very sweet. Top job my friend.

Well, my Nebelwerfer is stalled. I badly misjudged how long it would take to build. The Lion Roar kit is very fiddly and I have had a lot of frustrations with the brass components. I am about half way adding all the bolts to the tubes - again. Like a dummy, I added them before trying to slide the tubes in place and of course they won't allow that. You have to slide the tubes in. Add the rivets after, then once all are added, glue the tube in the frame. You have to leave them loose so you can rotate the tube to access the row of holes that face the centre of the completed unit or the other tubes get in the way.

I will need to leave the top two tubes off so I can paint the centres of the first four tubes and will have to paint the top two loose so I can rotate them to paint. Hopefully turning them will not remove paint.

Anyway, not going to meet the deadline here now.

The crates were easy/cheated on. I painted a base of dark gray, went over that with Tamiya Deck Tan, made random pencil marks to simulate grain, and went over everything with black Tamiya Panel Line wash.

I actually started this campaign with Esci's old Nebelwerfer, which was also fiddly -- and just plain horrible.

I tried to build one of those eons ago. I found the italeri one was better. I'll finish the Lion Roar one, it is still on the bench..

Well...

My first attempt at the hairspray technique wasn't so smooth I must have put it on too thick in places because after sitting awhile a bunch more paint flaked off I have touched it up but did not finish it in time.

Cheers Rob.

I also underestimated the fiddlyness of AFV Club's SdKfz 251. This not only threw me for a loop for this campaign but two others which are based on this kit.

Peter - thanks a lot! Sorry that you ran into delays with your Nebelwerfer - I have both Lion Roar kits (the 150mm and the 210mm) in the stash and calling them fiddly doesn’t describe them by half, like you said. From the looks of it, though, the high level of detail will make it all worthwhile in the end...what did the famous man say about hope dying last?

Shell - Very cool Stuka zu Fuss!

Angel - Excellent job on the Katyusha!

Rob - What a bummer, too bad.

Gary - Sorry to hear it...I‘ve heard/read that the AFV Club Sd. Kfz. 251s are tricky builds in places but that they‘re also the best 251s out there. I hope you can finish all of them at some point.

Great work Lap Man! I especially like how well you did the camo.

I would also like to thank all the participants in this campaign! I have been inspired to look for a few models to add to my stash after seeing the great work on the builds in this campaign.
Have fun modeling

Aloha All,

Did not finish in time for the deadline. Could there be an extension for this Campaign?

Anyway, here is my current level of completion...

Camo and clear coat applied. Still need washes and weathering.

Happy Modeling,

Nope, I haven't received one. Maybe somebody can contact Nito74, the campaign administrator.

Taking a look it seems he hasn't posted since January 18.

Anyone know him personally outside of Armorama? Could he have had a health issue or accident?

I reached out to the campaigns administrator and ribbons have been awarded to all those who have posted the requisite pictures in the campaign gallery.
