Quick question for those of you who have ever done the hairspray method for paint chipping. I know you're not supposed to wait too long between applying the hairspray coat and the top coat. Is there any best practice on when to start chipping? I did my hairspray coat then put my top coat (white) on; but that was a couple weeks ago. Life got in the way. What can I say?

Richard, normally I wait for 45 minutes. What you need right now is professional foam glass cleaner. Something like this.

Spray a little in a small jar and use stiff brush for chipping. If it's too strong, add little water. Good luck.

Shouldn't be an issue, I think. What I find makes all the difference is using two coats of hair spray instead of just one. I find that gives better control when working the top coat.

@Alex: Good stuff, man! I like the pallets of MREs. Nicely done!

@Mark: Yes, I did two coats of hairspray. It's my first time trying this.

Richard, sorry if I was brief, I was in the hurry when I was posting answer to your question. The only way to do your chipping after paint being dry is to use window cleaning solution. The one that has ammonia in it's formula. Normally, I use household, cheap one. But, since paint on your model is totally dry you have to use something stronger, something like product I pictured in previous post. Ammonia will dissolve your top coat without any problem but you need to be careful not to dissolve base one too. I would off start with water disolved cleaning solution, and than add little by little of the pure one until I find mix which is chipping top coat without destroying base one.
Hope this will help.

Richard thank you. To make the cover of the pallets, I have glued with some white glue the first layer of a real cardbox.

The sheet of cardbox is put in water and the first layer is easily unstuck. Then, let dry it before work with.

I hope your MAN truck is OK.

Hi everyone,

Thank you Alex and Peter.

I have primed all the parts with citadel primer spray, "zanri dust". then i sprayed a Vallejo model air green for the interior and black for the main chassis. I have only temporarily put the parts together until i get back to painting.

next will spray the exterior of the body, doors and hood in vallejo model air beige colour.

Alex, congratulations for finishing.
I finally finish something too.
First, Ford V3000s

And, finally, Maultier. I added lot of parts to it. Riich models Universal Carrier wheels, Master Club Panzer I tracks, Afv club LeFH18 ammo, Miniart cargo boxes, Bronco Jerry cans. Parts count of combo is more then 1000... One of the problems I had was how to make strips that are supporting canvas over cargo bed. Normally, I use leftovers from photo etch frames. But now I needed 4 of them, all pretty long. Evergreen strips can not hold shape of 45 degree angle by them self's. So I bent photo etch stripes and glued them to evergreen ones.

Then I had to make loose tarp thrown on the top of cargo.

And, finished model

Hey guys, thanks for the words of encouragement. It means a lot when nothing seems to make much sence. I'll be back in time just right now I'm a bit more concerned about those real life matters that are becoming a bit much. Thanks again. Bob d.

I have my entry into the Italian Front campaign completed and am now shifting my focus to Logistics. My tracked toaster is coming along nicely. This is my third Dragon kit and first panzer IV. I must say these Dragon kits are really well designed. Pretty part heavy but great detail and really nice texture to the plastic. Looking forward to more. Anyway, really enjoying the builds I am seeing. Some fantastic trucks from Alex and Bogi! Here is where I'm at now.

Sure dosen't look like much now that I'm looking at the pics! At least sixteen hours of work in. I guess I am a "slow" builder.
Ahh crap, looks like I have the armored intake covers closed and they should be opened.

Looking good Bryan.

I would not worry too much, unless you are really wanting them open. Plenty of pics showing them closed.

Thanks Peter. The Bergerpanzer IV served very late in the war. Figure it was pretty darn cold in east Prussian to Berlin in fall - spring 1945. I will just leave the vents closed. Cheers

Both of your trucks look beautiful.
