Hopefully some bench time today so I can finish the last few bits for the Challenger build. Then paint. With the wife needing care, for the past 2 weeks, bench time is almost zip.

Okay, bench time has been minimal after the wife had her bicycle accident and many broken bones. However, sneaked in a few hours and finished the construction phase on the Challenger 1. A lot of work, but I feel it was worth it in the end.

The brackets holding the armour plates is part conjecture and part from what is seen is some pics available.

It definitely is. As I allrrady said, I don't know anything about modern tanks but I can recognize good work as I see one. There are amazing builds all over this campaign.

Peter, that‘s some very meticulous, exacting work - great job.

Pete, that's stunning detail work you did there! Almost a pity to hide it with paint. And glad to see things are easing off enough to get the occasional breather at the bench - hope she's getting more comfortable. (Broken ribs suck. Can't put 'em in a cast, can't lie down, and worst of all laughing becomes torture!)

Managed to put a primer coat down yesterday. I'll get it base painted and maybe some weathering by end date ( I hope).

I'm in the home stretch on the Miniart T-54-2. I went light on the weathering. Still need to finish up the periscopes, add a few last details, and do some final weathering with pigments.

Nine days left and counting!!

Hey Rob, at times like this I take comfort in knowing there's an Unfinished Business campaign willing to welcome the build with open arms! Hope it all comes together eventually. (I dare not say how many campaigns I've bowed out of over the years...)

Bummer Rob, but keep at it, it is looking great.

Base coat down on the Challenger 1 and road wheel tyres painted. Had some "fun" trying to mix a reasonable representation of Gulf War 1 British sand colour. Photos show the colour varying from a brown to an orange!!! Hopefully when it is dry, the colour I have will be acceptable... I hope so, I have 2 jars of mixed paint left over so I need to think of a few British early 90's desert vehicles to paint to use it up

Rob: hopefully we'll see yours completed in an Unfinished Business campaign. Looks good so far.

Hello all,

after a prolonged stay in Hospital, I finally managed to put some camouflage net on my Chieftain. This is the first time I tried this, and the result is not too bad (I think).
The net was made from bandage soaked in dilluted white glue, and black tea leaves were sprinkled on some areas after the bandage was put on the model. Then it was just painted, and the tea-covered areas got some dark wash.



And the tracks -from MasterClub- which do look very good. But assembly of these was anything lese than relaxing (compared to Friul-tracks). In the end I think that next time I'll go for the ones included in the kit.




Today I'll put the tracks on the Chieftain, post some photos and then I'll call it done.
I wanted to give the model a dirty look, but tomorrow I'll again go to the hospital for a surgery on my spine, so there's no time for mud-moving.

Missing antenna, weathering and possibly prisms for periscopes (have to check how they looked in reality): probably done in day.
