The Talos launcher is now assembled, seams filled, sanded and ready for the metal finish. Here's how it looks after the final coat of primer.

It has been a bit of a whack-a-mole game with the different stages of the Talos missile so far. As soon as I fill the pinholes or seams at the base of one fin, another happens to pop up on a different fin! It has not helped that I have managed to snap off 3 different fins so far trying to clean up the fin/body locations. At least I am getting my money's worth in build time with this kit!

Have fun modeling

All right boys, I'm going in.
Meng Zpu-2
Home sick today and thought a little Mr Surfacer would do the lungs some good...I must be getting better, right?

I'm probably going with the Russian ZPU vers and the truck mount, maybe wheels up..

I am not a big fan of Meng's shiny black green plastic, makes locations hard to find.

So, zip zap, some Mr Surfacer.. and I'm going back to bed before my Dr appt...

Hey, anybody want to guess who’s got two thumbs, a primed aa gun and Strep?

THIS guy!

I could probably milk this for another day off, but I can’t do that in the last three days of the school year.

Alex, I'm tossing up between the Italeri Crusader AA, Bronco British Bofors or the AFV Club SdKfz 251/7.... But the Meng ZSU-23-4 Shilka has been beckoning…

"I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure...."

I have to finish my Matchbox, MBT, Stalingrad and Logistics group builds first...at painting stage on the first, mid build on the other two (and need to post pics) and haven't started the last... I'm a sucker for pressure to keep me motivated.

The weathering in your pick up truck bed is fantastic!! You really captured a heavily worn and somewhat abused look. I like your build!

Thank you Mike.

It seems your kit is a source of nervousness, but I guess you will manage to finish it.

Thanks Alex! I am making slow progress on my Talos missile. Both the first and second stage of the Talos are assembled and I am in the clean-up phase of the build. Here's the two parts of the Talos before painting:

They will be painted in different colors so I am planning on joining them at the end of the build to save some masking.

Have fun modeling!

Some more done on the little Breda 37/54.

Ammo boxes and the main portion of gun assembled.

Boxes cleaned up and barrel added and mount started.

Some really great progress on your builds guys.

The story of my life is I loose motivation on a regular basis. I have actually made quite a bit of progress, but I have not spent much time on the web.

First the Flak 38 with a barrel from Alliance model works and PE from Griffion Model.

Thanks for looking

I don't have much of an update as I have been busy with work and other life distractions. I am making progress, though, and have something to show. Remember earlier in this campaign I posted a photo of the hydraulic ram that raises and lowers the launch arm? I decided to remove the piston and used a short piece of aluminum tubing. I now have the ram cleaned up and painted with Alclad with the piston arm unpainted aluminum tube. I'll post the original phot along with the finished ram.

The finished ram is hard to see as I had a devil of a time trying to get my camera to focus on this piece.

I am almost finished with the launcher and should have photos posted soon.

Have fun modeling!

My M60 Marksman demonstrator is done! Finished it Saturday, took it to the MAFVA Nationals on Sunday. Here it is (in the Campaign gallery):

It's been fun, and I'm amazed I managed to finish a Campaign! (I have a terrible track-record of not completing, and often suffering failure to launch.) I'll be keeping tabs on all the other fun builds as it runs its course.

It looks great Tom. Very unusual subject and quite striking because of it.

Now you have set a precedent, you have to finish future builds you join up to (and no not joining at all!)

While I am finishing the Talos launcher, I am also making progress on the Talos missile. It is time for the color scheme! The rocket (bottom) stage is easy as the stage looks to be a slightly blue shade of gray. I plan on using a Vallejo paint that is already in my paint stash. The upper ram jet stage is a bit more challenging with its red and yellow scheme. I shot a range of colors and primers on white plastic spoons to check out the different combinations. I looked at Model Master and Mission Model paint combinations. Here's a photo of my test pieces:

And the winner that best matches most of the photos I have of the Talos is a Mission Models Pink Primer, Red and Highway Yellow combination.

Now it is on to painting the Talos!

Thanks Pete - not sure I want to be held to account for ALL the campaigns I sign up to!

And thanks Mike!

I've got a speed-build on now for the MBT campaign, so maybe this is my "Year of getting things done"...

Mike the spoons could use some weathering!

Yes, those colours will certainly jump out at you.

Breda is primed.

Basically two colors for the gun and mount: Dark Gray and Gun Metal. And then, of course, the concrete position. I'm going to seek out some pictures, I hope, of the ammo cans - I hope they're a different color so that it'll break up the rather boring scheme as it is...(maybe someone out there has a picture or two?)

Mike:

Always the olive green option... The Italians seemed to pack their ammo in that colour box. For the Breda MG:
