Time to update. Not a big fan fan of the tiny detail in PE, today it had to be. Went quite ok, with some cold beers it actually became fun to finish that.
Except for some styrene parts that will fit anyway, all the sub builds are ready for primer now.

Box is about empty, so a schedule pays off.
Next will be the finishing of the 202 Sonderanhänger (second one) to lift the gun for transport.

Subassemblies got a primer coat this early morning. Used Mr. Color Black 1500 from a can.




The weather is great. Very hot and humidity is ok!

Before that I assembled the parts, all went ok. A joy to build this kit. Bronco did a very good job on this one.

This is what I'm aiming at. Full transport mode on Sd.Ah.202. Think this is a pre war picture of the Gun. No shields, looks just awesome.


Because it's a really hot and sunshiny day, humidity is low, paint cures like it's in an oven. Great!
So here it is in a first layer of Tamiya Dark Yellow.

What? Bangkok, no humidity. A rare day indeed. Any time I've ever been there the unique aroma and the humidity hits you the moment you step off the plane at the airport. Send me some mangoes and sticky rice.

Living a 45 minutes by Taxi up north, and it was a really remarkable day.
We had good thunderstorms over the last weeks, They will come, for sure, but this week started today will be very hot and dry.

After a long time, I will show some progress.

Today I did the camouflage and during the last days I worked on the gun.





The idea for the camouflage pattern came during the paint job and there is no historical template. But I think it looks very good.

The painting has started on both stages of the Talos although I only have the primer coat on each to show. The first stage (rocket) is primed in MR Surfacer and the ramjet stage is primed in the pink primer from Mission Models. I had a devil of a time trying to get my camera to focus on these parts so sorry for the less than sharp photos!

Thanks Mike for the heads up. The PE was the challenge on this part of the build. I put the subs on shelf for a while, been busy in my head and I would have screwed up on that. But this weekend all was relaxed and easy. Had a great day yesterday, but it ain't over yet (something with the fat lady). More fiddly business to finish.
Love the Revell kit you build, brings back good memories. The scale is so special. We, my brother and me, once build the big launcher with the big rocket. Great detail for that time.

Mike, I had never heard of Mission Models primers before now. What are they like in your opinion?

The Mission Models primers and paint line has only been around a few years. They have released a growing line of paints and primers so I thought I would give them a try as I need to replace my quickly disappearing Model Master enamel paints.This is the third model that I have used the Mission Model paints on and really like them. They spray well and have good, smooth coverage.They are a bit tricky at first as you dilute them with only 20 - 30% of their thinner. The primer is pretty robust but this is the first time I have used their pink primer (used both gray and white before). MMP has a special polyurethane additive that you can add to their paints but the primer does not use the additive. I have wet sanded the primer and it seemed to work better than other acrylic paints that I have tried. There is a very active Facebook page focused on using these paints.

In a quick summary, so far so good using the Mission Models primer. I wanted to use the pink primer on the Talos as I will be over-coating this with Mission Models red and yellow. I'll post how this turns out soon.

Interesting info on Mission. See if it ships to Thailand from Australia's BNA, they are very picky. See a lot results on other forums as well.

While I am painting the Talos, I also have been finishing the launcher for the missile. It is now complete with the exception of wiring to connect the missile along with some other larger external data/power wiring. The lancher has been finished in using several different shades of Alclad including a slightly scorched look for the center area. So far, so good!

After finishing building the Fine Molds Millennium Falcon (wip for 15+yrs) for Hangar Queen pt whatever,



and having my wife knock the sci Fi campaign Launcelot off the table (she 'thinks' she found all the piece)


I just packed those parts away...

I finally got started on my Meng AA gun.



Other than those awful fiddly bits on top of the barrels, steps 1 and 2 are done. Pretty small assembly overall.

I have to wonder if the guys who run Meng heard the AFV Club folks bragging about 'using the most, smallest parts possible' and replied " Hold my beer and watch this!"

I'm watching this build because I have the same kit.

Even Visors don't help as much for me. I'm attempting to put the last PE ring of drive sprocket teeth on my Wiesel MK20A1 and those locating pins on the sprocket are hard to see.

The light coating of Mr Surfacer 1000 is a huge help.
I've got a strong visor, lots of light, good tweezers, a variety of cutting tools, and of course.. that beer to settle the nerves..

I should have gone to Dishmodels.ru first. There are a couple of great 'walkarounds' with lots of helpful placement and detailing images. Edit there is one on p19 of the artillery section, the one on page 23 is an anti aircraft mount and is different from the kit.
