Induced scale effect?

That's probably what AK had in mind, but I don't subscribe to that line. IMO, "induced scale effect" is a lot of hogwash...

Is there a specific color you have observed as being off? I've compared some of their colors to the MM enamel equivalent and they are very close matches.

Hi, Ken & Anyone Else that's interested!

Before I explain what I said in my previous post(s), let me just say that my reply to you will be expressed with only the friendliest of intentions... Here we go...

What you said may be true of CERTAIN MM versus AK colors. Your comparison is also based on "some of their colors", (your quote), which I think, depends on WHICH COLORS you were comparing. Fair, enough...

Now, if I may be more specific on a VERY small scale, let me just say that I don't care for AK's US WWII-range of colors. When I do representations of other nations' military equipment, I mix my own concoctions anyway...

I use MM Enamels almost exclusively, except when I find a need to use certain of the MM range of lacquers in both bottled and "rattle-can" form. I also use TAMIYA's paint products- (see the above)

I DO many times "doctor" my MM colors to suit my needs. I don't like AK's WWII US Olive Drab, Chromate Green, Interior Green and Chromate Yellow, just to name four of the colors. I'm not going to compare AK's entire range of colors one-for-one with MM's in this thread; that's too lengthy a comparison, and I don't think that doing so would serve to anyone's benefit...

As I said earlier, human perception to color is subjective, at best. I ALSO said, "IMO"- IN MY OPINION- the whole AK range of "REAL COLORS was too light...

I did NOT say, "Don't buy AK's REAL COLORS". I then proceeded to make a joke about AK's people being "color-blind"...

In addition I said, IMO, once again, that "INDUCED SCALE-EFFECT" is a lot of hogwash. I stand with that OPINION, and what I've said above. That's all that they are; opinions. I don't like "induced scale-effect" because to MY eye, I think it "perverts" the original colors of any given subject BEFORE any weathering, washes, etc are even applied...

"Pre- and Post-shading" are entirely different animals from "induced scale-effect", which is the DELIBERATE lightening of any given subjects' original color, for the sole purpose of representing "scale"... Hogwash...

My original post regarding AK INTERACTIVE's "REAL COLORS", was only meant as a general comment. No big deal...

We are looking at FOUR colours (black, brown and two greens), not the usual three.

Good eye, its indeed a four color camo. Pity that camo will simply disappear under a layer of dust and dirt.
