Hi all,
I currently have a Miniart T-55 Mod. 1963, and an SU-122-54 Late Type which I'm hoping are both indicative of types used during Operation Danube, the invasion of Czechoslovakia, in 1968.
Can anyone direct me towards the correct type of T-54 that would have been used during the Operation? (If at all) I'm afraid my knowledge of Soviet armour has taken a beating recently!

Most soviet divisions where catagory B present for operation Danube.
So both T-54A or T-54B can be used. (most probably rebuild examples)
I believe the takom T-54B kit even has markings for it.

As soon as you mentioned markings I checked the Star decal sheet that I have for Danube and it includes a set for a Soviet T-54A

There were all variants involved in the invasion, because you can not go wrong

Thought for you. Years ago I remember seeing a neat Prgae Spring dio. A T-54 or 55 on a cobblestone street, some of the stones torn up and a civilian figure throwing a cobblestone at the tank. One side of the turret/ upper hull had a big red splash where someone had nailed it with a bucket of paint.

Appropriate title for such a diorama: "Here comes Russian winter!"
