I'll Be building a 2A4 in German service with KFOR in Kosovo.
I still have to buy a kit, though.

Gary, thanks for your reply. But I have to disappoint you concerning the german KFOR Leos. They were only 2A5 with that additional armor at the turret and other track skirts. Revell Germany had that kit in 1/35 in their program, you might still get it via Ebay. Unfortunatly RoG has currently no Leo 2 in their catalogue .... If you want to build a 2A4 then you can use the Revell kit (like I do for the greek one) or Hobbyboss, both in 1/35. I think Italeri has it also out now but I don't know how good/bad it is.

Good night!
Torsten

Here are german KFOR Leopard 2A5 in Kosovo ....

I'm in. I primarily build WWII but I'd love to build a Canuck Leopard 2.

Torsten,
Great pics, and thank you for the correction.

I'm really not a modern armor builder. But the 2A4 reminds me of my favorite the Tiger I. So... I saw one with Helmut Kohl...

So, I may try to model that... Just gotta find a not-so-skinny figure to be the Chancellor.

I'm gravitating towards Finnish 2A4 with Marksman AA turret. Just to be sure, it's allowed in the campaign?

Cam, thanks for your support and welcome. Good choice and a cool photo! I've updated the list of the "willing victims" ....

Gary, didn't know about the photo. Meanwhile both are out of service for their country .... Kohl died in 2017 and the last Bundeswehr 2A4 was stored in 2008. Don't know in what scale you want to build but in 1/35 there are at least four Leopard 2A4 kits available. So it's your choice. I guess all have at least one german decal version.
- Hobbyboss No. 82401
- Meng No. TS016
- Revell No. 03193
- Italeri No. 6559

Pasi, a Marksman II? Yes! Yes! Yes! Everything with a Leopard 2 chassis is fine.

This is for Gary. I've built my Hobbyboss 2A4 many many moons ago when I (re)started building AFV ....

That’s a great looking Leopard, Torsten! So far I’ve looked at reviews of both Meng and it’s workable tracks and the Hobby Boss kits. I’ve also looked at the metal barrel by Orange Hobby.’

Ack, I'd like to join - but I'm already thinking of building my Hobby Boss Leopard 2A4 for a local Group Build haha. I'll follow along - I've been thinking of getting a Meng boxing of the kit in the future anyway

Nigel, that would be a pity if you don't join the fun here. Why not build the 2A4 for your local club build and this campaign? Would that idea work for you? As long as you don't use one build for two Armorama Campaigns everything is fine for me.

Kelly, don't pay too much attention to reviews! Make up your own opinion! No kit is perfect, neither are we. Just grab a kit and join the fun here. In the end it's just a hobby which should bring us nothing more than fun. There are so many Leopard 2 kits out there and I'm sure you'll find a suitable for you. I have also just ordered another one which should arrive at my door in a few days ...

Kelly, thanks for your support and welcome to the home of the Leopard. I have updated the list of supporters on page 1. If you have already a paint scheme in mind, tell us what you're gonna build.

Okay, we need 1 more taker to turn this into a campaign. Any volunteers?

Look what I found at my door today!
My neighbour was so kind to take the parcel while I was still working.

937 parts .... A bit of work to do ....

And before you ask, no, I won't build this kit for the campaign. First I need a dozer blade that suits ....

Shoot.... I'll need to build one kit per month to finish the GB's I've agreed to ... but make me your #10.

If my local hobby club 'Plastic Pusher' still has the Meng Bergeleopard 2 in stock and I can get it at the next club meeting, that will be my build... otherwise I'll need to look around.

A kit a month? Giving you the dubious glance, mate.

Didn't say I would achieve it GAZ....

Actually, I have only enlisted in 7 so far and 2 will be 1/72nd scale aircraft out of the box (mostly), so I'm in with a chance..

Peter, thanks for helping us over the edge and welcome to the kitty garden ....
Well, one build per month is quite ambitious. In my best year I have finished 11 models, this year I'm standing at 7 and have signed in for 2 more Aeroscale Campaigns recently. I'll start with a MiG 21 probably next week.

I hate to destroy your plans, Peter, but a Bergepanzer 2, widely just named "Bergeleo" is not allowed in this future campaign, because the chassis is based on the Leopard 1. It's a bit confusing, I know, but the Bergepanzer 1 of the Bundeswehr was the M 88. I also drool over the the new Meng kit, though I still don't own it. If you want to build an ARV Leopard, you could only choose the Bergepanzer 3 "Büffel", which is based on the Leopard 2. But I think there's no kit available of it in any scale. Here for you for comparison. It's easy to see the differences:

BPz 2 "Bergeleo", chassis based on the Leopard 1

BPz 3 "Büffel", chassis based on the Leopard 2

I'll get in contact with Richard, that he can approve this campaign and get back to you folks later with some rules and regulations. Now I'll drive to our club meeting in Mannheim.

And especially you down there in Oz please take care. I've seen the huge bush fires in the news you have mainly in NSW and QLD right now. Looks horrible ...

Hmmm. Didn't look too closely at that did I.

Bushfires are just another annual occurence here. In fact, some of our flora has evolved to a stage where they need a bushfire to germinate their seeds.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushfires_in_Australia

These are a bit worse than normal though, but not the worst we have had:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ash_Wednesday_bushfires

Despite that, there are idiots that start these things by throwing cigarette butts out of their car windows or firebugs that start them intentionally. It is the poor overworked firefighters that we think of, risking their lives due to someone else's stupidity.

I enlisted and just added the Meng 2A4 to my Christmas list. Let's hope that Santa can deliver.

I also would like to find a 2A4 that has some cool markings on it.
