Looking Good Rob.

Good choice on the blue grey. Most engine blocks were painted in the standard Commercial colours used by the manufacturers pre-war. There was no wartime call for them to be colour coded to body colour, no standard military colour requirements, etc. Restored vehicles are often repainted to match the body or painted straight black, using more modern engine paints.

cheres Peter... decided to go blue engine then chassi/cab base colour of Khaki Green G3 which I have in the AK interactive Caunter set. Started to add chassis pieces, engine still movable as I want to paint & weather this off the body (and now have some really nice photos showing how the engine grimes up and where rust/chipping/oil etc happens - may start the painting over the weekend)...

oh yes, and going to paint the cab in Caunter (with the G3 as the dark colour - cheers to Mike Starmer's paint descriptions) and then add the air recognition roundel to the roof - no evidence of the roundel but do have evidence of a caunter'd cab

back to the building desk after a weekend of painting. Some more work on the chassis - this time the trailer coupling. Used a guide from the Panzerserra build (http://panzerserra.blogspot.com/2018/03/scammell-pioneer-trmu30-tractor-with.html) to make the coupling more robust...

and the first "semi mating" of tractor and trailer (need more supports on the chassis before it looks more accurate...

today's work, coupling complete plus added the rope from the winch that will go to the trailer. If I do hitch it all up it does make the set "stuck" but would be worth it to have the load tied down....

I also did some work on the seat cushions - this timed used very thin "fibre" sheet from packing a pair of my sons trainers (Lonsdale ones if anyone is interested)... stuck to the cushions using extra thin cement (so house stinks at the moment)...

1) cut sheet to rough size

2) use thin cement to clue largest area

3) work round the edges with glue, use knife blade to press in to plastic and clean up edges

ends up like

so some tidying up with glue needed

and this is more cushions

Coming along very nicely Rob. The floor treatment looks sensational.

thanks both... done some more work on rear axles and wheels but photos are of engine and cab floor in situ ( all just placed for the moment). I think I will prime the cab, chassis etc and trailer this weekend (may even get the factory colour down on the cab interior)

Khaki Green #3 (according to Mike Starmer's excellent treatise on British WWII scheme's the factory colour) is on. Chipped the cab floor to show some of the wood and faded it in places. Should allow for the cab to be fitted (and engine) and then the cab interior to be added as well as decals for the dials....
