Sd.Kfz 222

My model is old Tamiya Sd. Kfz 222 1/35 kit which was recently re-released with addition of Photo etched mesh for turret and aluminium barrel. The kit was built out of the box. The only additions where jerrican racks and the Nazi flag of course. For the jerrican racks I used aluminium foil straps cut from tea lights and glued with CA. the flag is made from tissue lightly soaked with diluted white glue and painted with acrylic paints. To get even circle I used cap from 2 litres Soda's bottle to mask off, what supposed to stay white. Swastika was first drawn with pencil and then with black/grey acrylic paint. To correct any flaws I made during painting Swastika white area was painted with Off-white paint.
To make a more natural appearance on the vehicle, the flag was again lightly soaked with white glue, at the same time ropes (sewing thread) were attached to flag. When the flag had dried, it received some weathering.
the model was painted with Model Master Panzer grey acrylics and weathered with Mig's and Mirage Hobby's pigments. The model represents a vehicle from the 24th Panzer Div. in Southern Russia in August 1942. I hope to show a dusted vehicle during one of long recon missions.
The figure comes from Dragon's Sturmartillere Crew and was painted with Vallejo paints.

About Marcin Kardaszewski (WARLORD)
FROM: WARSZAWA, POLAND

I began my modelling adventure when I was 12, building 1/72 aircrafts. Few planes later I got bored and gave up my hobby. After few years break I returned to modelling, but switched to modelling 1/35 armour and figures in all scales.

The old kit turned out looking great Marcin.

Thank you, Dave. I loved working on that little bug. Although there was more clean up than on todays model the fit of the parts is almost perfect.

brilliant model. my only critsism would be that the figure looks a bit shiny and the tire treads look more like gun metal than rubber. but a really well weathered model.

Great job on that model, Marcin. The only comment would be the flag looks very large, but that makes it easier to avoid friendly fire. Thanks for sharing

I must agree with you remarks. I didn't know why my figures are so shiny (espacially on photos)(although I tried many varnishes). Now I think it may be caused by wrong technique and I hope I'll be able to prevent shining in future. As for tires, I haven't noticed that they don't look right until you pointed that. Thank you for you comments Luke and Jesper.
