Step Four: Next, take the dowel; using a grinding instrument (I used an industrial one because it was quicker) grinds the dowel at uneven intervals to give a rough, rugged, distorted bark effect. You can even use a sharp cutting blade to cut out small dents into the bark. Also, make sure one end of the dowel is slightly pointed. This part would represent the top of the tree.
