Fries Strabokran and Tiger I

  • move
When a friend asked if Piet would like to explore the Fries crane (Strabo crane from Takom) he immediately had the idea to combine it with the RFM Tiger I nr 323 (SwPzAbt 502) he had already made for this friend.

The Tiger is very accurate and is a pleasure to build. However it is advisable that you build the parts of the same color before painting it due to the tight tolerances. The RFM Tiger is with interior, so the choice was made for a diorama with the tower separated and hanging from the cradle.

The Fries crane is a wonderful piece which can be made in a transport or in working position and parts are movable. But, as with other plastics, making it movable is sheer impossible due to friction of the parts. But the amount of detail is unbelievable.

Masterbox figures are chosen for the German repair “abteilung”. Some had to be changed for their working position in the diorama. Waiting is also for the large generator (Miniart) as a power supply. Since another old friend of Piets (thanks) wants to paint the workers (see the old farmer in the US dozer diorama) it will take some time before the base and figures are ready.
